Te Lovers Newsletter - New Teas and Open Mic

New Teas

  • Organic Kukicha - a bancha twig tea from Japan.  This tea is made from the stems, stalks, and twigs of the Camellia sinensis plant.  Since most of the caffeine in tea is concentrated in the leaves, twig tea has a lot less caffeine than your traditional tea.  It has a unique, earthy flavor, and is the preferred tea of macrobiotic diets.  Certified Organic
  • Waikiki Sour Tisane - an exotic blend of hibiscus, orange peel, lemongrass, rose hips, spearmint, & ginseng root.  Certified Organic.

Open Mic

Open Mic is this weekend!  Saturday evening, August 4, is our second open mic event for the year, and this one's already lining up to be fun.  Check out our event schedule for details, and to sign-up if you wish to participate.

Tea Takes #3

Time for a new poll.  From the results of our second poll, sounds like most folks want to be the next Earl Grey.  He does have a distinguished-sounding name, don't you agree.  We can just picture him in coattails and top hat, sitting elegantly in his studio, in front of the fireplace, sipping tea of course.  The picture of refinement - something we all want to be ::grin::

Well, our third poll takes you to the movies.  This one's  a twist: we're taking your opinion, but actually there's only one right answer!  The question is "In which movie does our tea house building appear?"  Note that before Té the building at 1927 Fairview was a laundromat for several years -- 40 years at least, from what we've been told.  The movie scene naturally depicts it as ... a laundromat!

We'll post the answer in 2 weeks, but take a vote to see if you can guess the right movie!

This is like Ask the Audience in "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?".  Let's hope the audience has a lot of Houston cinephiles!!
